Vietnam plans to merge its two stock exchanges in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi as part of plans to restructure its securities market, the Dow Jones news agency cited state news media as saying Tuesday.
The new bourse, to be called the Vietnam Stock Exchange, will be set up in the second quarter, the Dau Tu Chung Khoan online newspaper quoted Finance Minister Vuong Dinh Hue as saying.
The government will review operations of brokerages, listed companies and investors before calculating requirements for a market revamp, Mr Hue was reported as saying.
