Vietnam Builds 80Mln M2 Housing In 2011
 
In 2011, Vietnam newly built 80 million square meters (m2) of housing floor, increasing the average housing area to 18.3m2/person, the Ministry of Construction said, adding that the figure was 21.3 m2 /person in urban area.

In the year, Vietnam also invested a total of VND4.5 trillion in 42 housing projects (900,000m2 of housing floor) for low-income people. These projects will supply housing demand for 73,000 people.  As many as 1,700 apartments were already finished and put into operation.

 

The country also completed 151 blocks for students, supplying125,000 accommodation for students in the year.

 

Other 100 blocks are scheduled to finished in the first six months of 2012 to meet
accommodation demand for 205,000 students.
