Jan 20: Vietnam Stocks Close Mixed As Traders Take Profit on Primary Bourse
 
Vietnamese stocks ended with a mixed note today as investors sold shares on the primary bourse to book profit ahead of 10 day long Lunar New Year holiday, while buying interest persisted on the smaller cap bourse.

The benchmark VN Index gave up 0.43 point, or 0.11% to end at 373. Volume rose28.5% to 29.6 million shares worth VND661.7 billion, including 9.3 million shares worth of VND385.1 billion changed hands in the put-through deals.

 

Put-through trading was active again, we saw 2 million DXG shares changed hands, 1.9 million MBB shares changed hands and 2.97 million VIC shares changed hands in the arranged deals, all of the deals were transacted lower than today market prices.

 

VN Index opened in the green with 1.1 million shares traded .Trading was more active but selling pressure sold from profit takers who locked their profit after VN Index posted a gain of 36.7 points or 10.9% in the past 9 gaining sessions. Selling pressure finally sent the benchmark to the negative ground in the last 15 minutes of ATC session.

 

Heavy weighs BVH, CTG, MSN, VIC, VNM were all losers, STB stayed in the neutral line.

 

SSI lost 1 price line  but other broker SBS hit the ceiling for 9th day. Property stocks  were mixed, DIC, NTL, HAG, KBC gained  DIG, ITC stayed in the neutral line while ITA,  DXG, SJS, VIC were losers.

 

Market breadth was still positive. Among 306 listed firms on HOSE, gainers outweighed losers by 142-99 and 65 stocks unchanged and the rest untraded. As many as 62 stocks closed at the ceiling price and 24 fell to the floor.

 

Japan Vietnam Medical Instrument JSC. (JVC) was the most active stock today, with 2.3 million shares traded, closing up 4.1% to VND17,800 for a third day.

 

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) ranked second with 1.3 million shares traded, closing down 0.7% to VND14,300.

 

Na Ri Hamico Mineral JSC. (KSS) was in the third place with 0.8 million shares traded, closing up 4.8% to VND6,600.

 

PetroVietnam Finance Joint Stock Corporation (PVF) ranked forth with 0.7 million shares traded, closing up 4.3% to VND7,300.

 

Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam or Vietcombank (VCB) was in the fifth place with 0.7 million shares traded, closing up 1.8% to VND23,100.

 

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX closed up 0.03 point or 0.05% to 58.44. Trading volume rose 14% to 25 million shares traded for VND196.8 billion of which 2.6 million shares worth VND39.6 billion were changed hands in put-through deals.

 

Market breadth was negative with 133 gainers, 209 losers and 51 flat issues.

 

VNDIRECT Securities Corporation (VND) was the most active stock with 2.8 million shares changed hands, closing up 3% to VND6,900 on average.

 

PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVX) ranked second in the list with 1.8 million shares traded, closing up 2.9% to VND7,100 on average. 

 

Kim Long Securities JSC (KLS) came third with 1.7 million shares traded, closing flat at VND8,800 on average.
